Latest Technology Trends in Low-charge Hydrocarbon Refrigeration Systems using natural hydrocarbon refrigerants, such as propane and isobutane, are becoming increasingly popular in the HVAC & R industry. In order to mitigate the flammability risks it is important to implement technology that drastically reduces hydrocarbon refrigerant charge, such as in commercial refrigeration applications to levels below 150g.

CTS researchers have developed substantial knowledge in this area and it is our great pleasure to invite you and your colleagues to attend a 1½ day symposium

CTS Announces a Symposium

Latest Technology Trends in Low-charge Hydrocarbon Refrigeration
January 22nd & 23rd, 2015 at CTS in Urbana, IL

The topics to be presented include:
  • Properties of hydrocarbon refrigerants
  • Basic safety with flammable refrigerants
  • Additional regulatory guidelines for ASHRAE A3 refrigerants
  • Maintenance and servicing
  • Basic cycles and performance improvements
  • Methods to reduce hydrocarbon charge
  • Compressors and lubrication
  • Heat exchanger technology
  • Relevant case studies

The event is supported by the Marmon Group, who is launching their new flame-free RLS fitting technology in early 2015. More information and a hands-on demonstration of this technology will be presented in the morning of the second day. The new RLS flame-free joining technique could greatly facilitate assembly and maintenance of hydrocarbon and other systems, especially when serviced in the field.

The registration fee for the symposium is $400 per person. To ensure that you receive copies of the presentation handouts, please provide your registration information by Friday, December 5, 2014. The registration fee includes lunch and coffee breaks each day. Hotel accommodations and transportation are not included and are the responsibility of the participants.
